Project Open Hand

Picture
While Volunteering at Project Open Hand (POH) I performed cooking demonstrations on a regular basis. All of the clients at POH suffer from a critical illness of some sort and require nutrition support. My goal was to create nutritious meals using ingredients available at the POH grocery center. It was especially important for me to use cooking equipment available to individuals that may not have access to a full kitchen.

Community Gardens as appleseeds

Picture
In 2011 I travelled to Iran and awarded two stipends on behalf of Community Gardens as Appleseeds. One stipend supported a local school (pictured above) that was already teaching their young students how to grow food. The second was given to a Zoroastrian community center (pictured below) with the intention of starting a community garden.
